With an average day temperature in the mid-50’s and night temperature close to freezing, our tomatoes are nice and cozy in the greenhouse. We are trying out a determinate variety of tomatoes called BHN-589 for future hoop house planting. So far, the tomatoes are growing to a good size and the few we have harvested would stand up to packing (unlike heirloom varieties). We are also trying the Florida weave method for trellising so that we can determine how far apart to position our stakes. We have them at 10 feet now and we have found that we need to move them closer during the next planting since the lines are sagging in the middle.
